Celebrating a 1 Year edge-iversary!
Another month, another edge milestone! Not only is October edge‘s Birthday month, but it also marks 1 whole year since Izzie joined the team! So we quizzed her about her time with us so far, and how she’s adapted to living life on the edge!
How have you found adapting to living life on the edge?
It has been said that ‘if you aren’t living life on the edge, you’re taking up too much space’, and since I’ve moved to ‘the edge’, I’ve seen that space fill with creativity, enthusiasm and just a little dusting of pink of course! I’ve learnt to think outside the box with confidence, to voice my ideas, encouraged by the supportive team and the unique spirit we have here at edge, bring on another year!
What do you most enjoy about edge life?
I love the way the team works around an ethos of trust and learning, being encouraged to question the what ifs in the design process and asking questions of others means we are always learning – and it’s an exciting way to work. Another thing I love, is that the theme of encouragement isn’t limited to the workload, but ideas around wellbeing and fun activities for team building. I believe that the balance of work and play makes the creative process more authentic and successful, when you are designing places for people, it helps to move from behind the desk and experience said places.
What’s been your proudest moment?
It’s difficult to pinpoint one specific moment, I’m proud of my overall contribution to projects. Looking back at the year I’m also proud of how my confidence has grown as a designer, as a team player and at times a leader – any part I have been able to play that has contributed to the pride I feel working in the edge team. Outside of projects, I’m so proud for helping to organise as well as taking part in the Mud Girl run. It’s a great achievement for me because it has helped me to feel more confident being my authentic self – it was a highlight of the year, and helped build great team spirit.
What have the next few months got in store?
More project challenges, more creative solutions, more team building, more learning, more singing in the office and just more life on the edge. Bring it on.
