edge third birthday celebrations

Celebrating Threedom!

Thursday 7th October saw the long-awaited return of the edge Birthday party! We knew straight after our first Birthday celebrations, way back in 2019, that this was going to become an edge tradition, and after a low-key virtual celebration for our second Birthday back in 2020 – we were ready to party.

And party we did! Based on our tried and tested formula – we headed back to the Modern Art Gallery in Oxford with our pink prosecco, edge pink Birthday cake and pink balloons in tow.

Having worked alongside the Frank Bruno Foundation for the past few months, it made perfect sense to hold a charity auction in their honour, to support their wonderful work raising awareness of mental ill health, campaigning to end the stigma surrounding mental ill health, as well as providing a safe environment for those in need. At edge, mental health awareness is something that has always been close to our hearts, so we’re thrilled to support this amazing charity and the fantastic Frank Bruno Centre.

This year’s auction prizes, courtesy of our wonderful friends at Tyler Grange, Julie Williams of Lighting Fires, Reebok founder Joe Foster and the Frank Bruno Foundation (plus an exclusive money-can’t-buy night of delight from edge)… were pretty special, and included an epic selection of craft beer, an introductory business coaching session, signed books and one-of-a-kind signed sports and film memorabilia. Hosted by Nick Smith, CEO of the Frank Bruno Foundation and our Compère Extraordinaire, the auction raised an amazing £2,504 on the night! Plus, with some additional donations from our generous friends and a top up from edge, this became an incredible grand total of £4,500! THANK YOU so much to everyone who donated and dug deep to take home our fab prizes.

After some delicious food and drink, the after party began. And what a joy it was to be surrounded by our friends, celebrating a milestone in person. To us though, this wasn’t just any old Birthday celebration, it was a chance to celebrate overcoming the challenges we’ve all faced over the past 18 months – having fun and being together. Because balloons, pink prosecco and Birthday cake aside, the journey we’ve all collectively shared and the ups and downs we’ve all faced have brought us all together, made us more resilient and shown us just how adaptive we can be, which is something worth celebrating.

Thank you to all of our wonderful friends for celebrating with us and donating some truly fabulous prizes, to Compère Extraordinaire Nick Smith and the Frank Bruno Foundation, and to Philippa James for the AMAZING pictures! Same time next year – get it in your diaries now!
